My trainer friend was upset because someone had told her that her training program was not up to the mark. In fact they said that it was a really lousy program.
After some 20 years in the business, she was understandably in tears and very shaken to get this feedback on a subject she had studied so deeply and knew it inside out.
My very close friend was upset because her relative was rude to her gave her feedback that she (my friend) thought too much of herself.
Have you noticed how some people ‘seem’ to know everything about everything and are only to happy to share their opinion or advice on any and everything?
Anyway so to cut a long story short, we had a deep conversation about the feedback she received and also about who had given the feedback.
And we realized that in the first instance, the feedback she got was from the training coordinator who had no idea what the subject was about. She only gave advice based on her viewpoint and what she heard….
In the second instance, the relative was someone who she didn’t get on for more than 20 years and there had been friction in the past…
So my learning from this .. Listen to feedback AND also listen to who is giving the feedback…only then decide what you want to do with the information.
